Delhi cricketer Subodh Bhati created history on Sunday as he became the first batsman to score a double-hundred in a Twenty20 game.
Bhatti achieved the feat in a club T20 tournament where he featured for Delhi XI.
In the game against Simba, Subodh Bhati opened the innings and ended up smashing as many as 205 runs in mere 79 deliveries. The knock consisted of 17 fours and as many belligerent sixes. Bhati scored his first 102 runs in a mere 17 deliveries.
The whirlwind knock by Bhati ensured that Delhi XI posted a mammoth 1/256 runs in 20 overs. And, the fact that the Delhi cricketer scored 80 percent of those runs makes the feat even more astounding. The other two batters- Sachin Bhati and skipper Viks Bhati57- contributed 25 and 6 runs respectively to the team’s total.
As far as T20 cricket is concerned, West Indian swashbuckler Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score is concerned. Gayle achieved the feat during the 2013 IPL when he smashed a barely believable 175 not-out[in just 66 deliveries against the now-defunct Pune Warriors.
In the international arena, Australian limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch holds the record for the highest individual score by a batter.
Finch achieved the feat against Zimbabwe during the 2018 T20I tri-series which involved Pakistan as the third team. Finch smoked a brutal 172 off 76 deliveries with the help of 16 4s and 10 monstrous sixes.
As far as Subodh Bhati is concerned, the 30-year-old cricketer has represented Delhi in 8 FC, 24 List-A, and 39 T20 matches in which he has scored 147, 132, and 120 runs respectively. He has also claimed 19, 37 & 47 wickets in FC, List A, and T20 cricket respectively.
