Private power generating companies tell Centre they don’t have funds to import coal

The power ministry has asked all power plants to import 10% of their coal requirement from 4% earlier to ease the pressure off domestic coal. The private power companies said they are keen to import coal to ensure adequate coal stocks. “However, they have all stated paucity of liquidity for arranging coal imports,” said a senior government official.
