Nearly 40,000 preschools across Gujarat went on strike on Tuesday to protest the state’s registration rules, which they claim are unclear and impractical. The new policy mandates that all preschools must be registered by February 2025, but confusion over building use (BU) permits, lease agreements, and the registration process has caused delays. The Gujarat Independent Preschool Association has urged the government to address these concerns to avoid shutting down institutions that serve around 10 lakh children.
