The West Virginia Senate approved a bill on February 21, 2025, allowing religious and philosophical vaccine exemptions for schools, marking a departure from one of the nation’s strictest vaccination policies. The bill, supported by Republican Senator Laura Wakim Chapman, would permit families to file objections to vaccinations based on their beliefs. If passed by the House, the bill could bring West Virginia in line with 45 other states offering similar exemptions.
