Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna defence public sector undertaking, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bellatrix Aerospace to jointly design, develop and manufacture advanced satellite systems and payloads. The partnership aims to strengthen India’s indigenous space technology capabilities, particularly in the Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) regime.
The collaboration brings together BEL’s extensive experience in building advanced electronics and mission-critical payloads for defence and strategic applications with Bellatrix Aerospace’s cutting-edge expertise in satellite propulsion systems and satellite subsystems. By leveraging their complementary capabilities, the two organisations will focus on developing next-generation satellite platforms suitable for VLEO missions.
This strategic partnership is expected to significantly boost innovation in India’s space sector while accelerating the development of indigenous satellite technologies. The joint initiative will contribute to enhancing India’s capacity to design and manufacture sophisticated satellite systems for both strategic and civilian space applications.
With space emerging as a critical domain for national security, communication and scientific advancement, BEL’s collaboration with deep-tech startups like Bellatrix Aerospace reflects a growing push towards strengthening domestic capabilities in the rapidly evolving space ecosystem. Together, the companies plan to create integrated satellite solutions that will support India’s expanding space ambitions.
The MoU exchange took place between Mrs Rashmi Kathuria, GM (SCCS) and Unit Head of BEL-Ghaziabad, and Rohan M Ganapathy, CEO and CTO of Bellatrix Aerospace. The event was held in the presence of Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, along with senior officials including K V Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing), Kamesh Kasana, Director (Other Units), Niti Pandit, GM (Strategic Planning), and Chinnappa Rajappa Patil, Chief Scientist (CRL-Bangalore).
