Harvard University will hand over I-9 employment verification records for approximately 19,000 employees following a formal request from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The request is part of a broader federal inquiry into employment and immigration compliance at the University. Harvard is also reviewing whether student employment data is protected under FERPA. DHS has issued additional subpoenas concerning international students’ records, as federal scrutiny of US universities intensifies under President Trump.
