The US Department of Education has begun implementing the higher education provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, recently signed into law by President Trump. The reforms include simplified student loan repayment plans, new limits for part-time students, and funding to cover a $10.5 billion Pell Grant shortfall. Additional provisions include the launch of the Workforce Pell Grant programme and new accountability measures for institutions, with phased changes set to continue into the following year.
