In a significant leadership transition for the Indian Army, the Government has appointed Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, as the next Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). Currently serving as Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Seth will assume charge on June 30, 2026, following the retirement of General Upendra Dwivedi.
Widely respected for his extensive experience across operational, strategic, capability development, and institutional domains, Lt Gen Seth has played a pivotal role in enhancing the Indian Army’s combat preparedness and modernization efforts. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the force continues its transformation towards future-ready warfare capabilities.
