New Delhi: In a major leadership development at Engineers India Limited (EIL), the company has appointed Atul Gupta as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) with effect from June 29, 2026. The appointment has been made in line with the directions of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) and will remain in force until September 30, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders are issued.
The decision was approved by the Board of Directors during its meeting held on June 29, 2026. Gupta, who was serving as Director (Commercial), officially assumed charge as the company’s top executive on the afternoon of the same day. He succeeds Praveen M. Khanooja, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, who had been entrusted with the additional responsibility of heading the PSU.
A distinguished engineering professional, Atul Gupta joined Engineers India Limited as a Management Trainee in 1992 and has since built an impressive career spanning more than three decades.
Over the years, Gupta has successfully spearheaded several high-value and strategically significant projects across the refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, and fertilizer sectors in both domestic and international markets. His extensive experience in project execution, commercial operations, and leadership is expected to strengthen EIL’s strategic vision and accelerate its growth in India’s expanding energy and infrastructure landscape.
Gupta’s elevation as CMD comes at a crucial juncture for Engineers India Limited as the public sector enterprise continues to play a vital role in delivering engineering consultancy, project management, and EPC solutions for India’s oil, gas, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors.
