Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, officially took over as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) on June 30, 2026, succeeding Gen Upendra Dwivedi, who retired after completing his tenure. The ceremonial change of command was held in New Delhi, marking the beginning of a new leadership chapter for the Indian Army.
