The High Power / Joint Committee of Coal India Limited paid a significant visit to South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on May 7, 2025, conducting its second formal meeting at the Gevra Area. Senior officials from multiple subsidiaries, including MCL, NCL, ECL, and CCL, participated alongside trade union representatives from BMS, HMS, AITUC, and CITU.

The meeting featured a detailed presentation on welfare measures, legal compliance, and facilities extended to contract workers. Committee members underscored the need for continuous improvement in contract labour welfare and held candid dialogues with workers inside the Gevra mine, the world’s second-largest coal reserve. The delegation also visited a workers’ camp in the Dipka Area and observed an eco-restoration project based on the Miyawaki plantation method. SECL’s Director (HR) Biranchi Das reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ensuring better working conditions and support for its contract workforce. The committee was received with warm hospitality by senior officials of SECL.
