Engineering institutes can hire more industry professionals as professors now: Check AICTE’s updated guidelines for the appointment of Professors of Practice

The AICTE has updated its Approval Process Handbook for 2025-26, allowing engineering institutions to appoint up to 20% of faculty as Professors of Practice (PoP), up from 15%. PoPs can be industry professionals with varying qualifications, including PhDs or BTech degrees with significant industry experience. The policy aims to enhance industry-academic collaboration in technical education.
