In a significant leadership appointment in India’s insurance sector, Hitesh Rameshchandra Joshi has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC). The appointment was approved by the Government of India on Wednesday. Joshi had been serving as the interim CMD of the country’s premier reinsurance company since October 2025. His elevation to the top post is expected to provide continuity and strategic direction to GIC as it strengthens its position in the domestic and global reinsurance markets.
