HUDCO donates portable TB X-ray machine to Chamba for enhanced healthcare services

Chamba, December 6, 2024: A handheld portable TB X-ray machine, provided under HUDCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, was formally inaugurated at the District Hospital Chamba. The event took place in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, with the machine being unveiled by HUDCO’s Executive Director (CSR), Rajeev Sharma, in the hospital’s conference room.

Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal expressed his gratitude to HUDCO and its Executive Director Rajeev Sharma for providing the portable X-ray machine to the aspirational district of Chamba. Highlighting the significance of this machine, he mentioned its lightweight design, making it a valuable asset for diagnosing TB patients in the remote areas of Chamba. The machine will also play a crucial role in the 100-day TB eradication campaign commencing on December 7, 2024. The Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that HUDCO would continue to extend its positive support to Chamba in the future.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Chamba, Dr. Vipin Thakur, emphasized the utility of the handheld portable X-ray machine in strengthening the government’s TB eradication efforts in the district. He also requested the Deputy Commissioner to facilitate the provision of an X-ray machine for the Civil Hospital Chuwari and an ECG machine for Tisa Hospital through CSR initiatives.

Rajeev Sharma, HUDCO’s Executive Director (CSR), shared that the machine, valued at approximately ₹24 lakh, was provided under HUDCO’s Health and Nutrition program to support the national TB eradication mission. He also announced plans to deliver an additional X-ray machine to the health department soon.

Further, Sharma revealed that HUDCO had approved medical equipment and furniture worth Rs. 1 crore for Chamba Medical College as part of its commitment to aspirational districts.

The event was attended by HUDCO officials, including Assistant General Manager Ajay Arora and Senior Manager Ashish Goyal, along with District Health Officer Dr. J.S. Bhardwaj, District Program Officer Dr. Harit Puri, and other health department officials and staff.
