The Central Government has approved the transfer of Annu Tatu, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2022 batch, from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre to the Gujarat cadre on the grounds of marriage.

Under the order, Tatu, who belongs to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will move to the Gujarat cadre following the government’s approval. Her husband, Gautam Vivekanandan, is an IPS officer of the 2023 batch belonging to the Gujarat cadre.

The cadre transfer has been approved in exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-Rule (2) of Rule 5 of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, with the concurrence of the governments of Assam, Meghalaya and Gujarat.

The decision formalises the cadre change on marriage grounds, enabling the two IPS officers to serve in the same state cadre, subject to the applicable service rules and transfer order.
