Major IAS reshuffle in Jammu & Kashmir

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Jammu & Kashmir administration has reassigned 20 IAS officers to key departments, reinforcing governance across critical sectors such as power, finance, health, agriculture, and youth services.

Ashwani Kumar has been appointed as Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Power Development Department, and will also hold additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Mining Department. Dr Ashish Chandra Verma, Financial Commissioner (ACS), Tourism, will additionally serve as Administrative Secretary, Agriculture Production Department.

Shailendra Kumar takes over as Financial Commissioner (ACS), Finance Department. M Raju, Commissioner/Secretary, GAD, will also handle Health and Medical Education as Administrative Secretary. R Alice Vaz has been posted as Commissioner/Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring, with additional charge of Information Department.

Among other key appointments, Yasha Mudgal becomes Commissioner/Secretary, Cooperatives; Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary takes charge of Youth Services and Sports; and Dr Piyush Singla, Secretary, IT Department, will additionally head the Public Grievances Department.

Anjali Sehrawat has been appointed Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission, while Nidhi Malik becomes Inspector General of Registration, J&K. Owais Ahmed is posted as Director, Skill Development.

District-level changes include Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan as Deputy Commissioner, Budgam; Kumar Abhishek as Deputy Commissioner, Reasi; Dr Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat as Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag; Minga Sherpa as Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur; Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid as Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla; and Shahzad Alam as Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam.

Additionally, Akriti Sagar has been appointed Managing Director, National Health Mission, J&K, with additional charge as Special Secretary, Health and Medical Education. Harvinder Singh will serve as Director, Employment, along with additional responsibilities as CEO, Mission Youth and Mission Director, Mission YUVA.

This large-scale reshuffle is expected to enhance administrative coordination and policy execution in the Union Territory.
