NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT) have joined forces to establish a green energy joint venture, aiming to develop up to 2000 MW of renewable energy projects in Maharashtra. The agreement, signed in Mumbai on May 29, 2025, was witnessed by senior officials including Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt and NLC CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli.
The JV, with NIRL holding 74% equity and MAHAPREIT 26%, will focus on solar, wind, hybrid, and pumped storage projects, with an initial target of 500 MW. MAHAPREIT will assist in land allocation and power evacuation infrastructure, while NIRL will handle project financing and execution. This partnership aligns with India’s renewable energy goals and reinforces NLC’s leadership in sustainable power solutions.
