In a significant reshuffle of senior police personnel, the Punjab government has reassigned responsibilities to nine IPS officers, marking a key move in strengthening the state’s law enforcement and administrative machinery.
Varinder Kumar has been posted as Special Director General of Police (DGP) at the Punjab State Human Rights Commission in Chandigarh, reflecting a focus on institutional rights oversight. Praveen Kumar Sinha has taken charge as Additional DGP (Intelligence) and will concurrently serve as Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau—signifying a strategic emphasis on internal security and anti-corruption efforts. R K Jaiswal has assumed the role of ADGP (NRI Affairs) at SAS Nagar, aiming to enhance outreach and services for the global Punjabi diaspora. In operational roles, Kuldeep Singh Chahal has been entrusted with the duties of DIG, Technical Services, Chandigarh, while Harjeet Singh, DIG, Bathinda Range, has also been given the additional responsibility of DIG, Training, in Chandigarh.
Nanak Singh has been posted as DIG, Patiala Range, and Varun Sharma will now lead as SSP, Patiala. Tushar Gupta has been appointed as AIG (Provisioning), Chandigarh, with an added charge of SSP, Sadak Suraksha Force—ensuring enhanced road safety enforcement. Maninder Singh, currently SSP, Amritsar Rural, will now additionally serve as AIG (Welfare), Chandigarh, overseeing personnel welfare initiatives. These reassignments collectively aim to fine-tune the state’s policing apparatus for enhanced efficiency, vigilance, and public service delivery.
