With Bihar gearing up for Assembly elections likely to be held in October-November 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed Vinod Kumar Gunjiyal (IAS: 2007: Bihar cadre) as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state.
He succeeds H R Srinivas (IAS: 1996: Bihar cadre). Gunjiyal’s selection comes from a panel of three officers proposed for the crucial electoral assignment.
