Rakesh Gupta has been appointed as the Director General of Income Tax (Vigilance) and Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). He is an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre). With this appointment, Rakesh Gupta will oversee vigilance and integrity-related matters within the CBDT, playing a key role in strengthening transparency and accountability in the tax administration.
