BHEL Board approves Rs. 65 Crore Investment in NTPC-BHEL Power Projects

New Delhi: State-owned engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has approved an additional Rs. 65 crore equity investment in NTPC-BHEL Power Projects Private Limited (NBPPL), its 50:50 joint venture with NTPC Limited.

The decision was taken at the BHEL Board meeting held on September 14, 2026, according to a regulatory filing. The investment will be made by BHEL in one or more tranches as part of its equity contribution to NBPPL.

NBPPL was established in April 2008 as a joint venture between BHEL and NTPC, with both companies holding an equal 50 per cent stake. The additional equity will be subscribed at face value and on an arm’s-length basis, while the existing shareholding structure will remain unchanged.

The joint venture focuses on executing EPC contracts for power generation plants and infrastructure projects. It is also engaged in the manufacturing and supply of power-sector equipment for projects in India and overseas.

As per provisional figures, NBPPL recorded a turnover of Rs. 1.04 crore in 2025-26, compared with Rs. 3.48 crore in 2024-25 and Rs. 18.19 crore in 2023-24.
