Kolkata: The West Bengal Government has transferred 2021-batch IPS officer Bushra Bano, who was serving as Additional SP, Kharagpur. She has been posted as Deputy Commandant of the State Armed Police.
The transfer follows a social media controversy surrounding a video shared by Bano on September 13 in which she spoke about her UPSC preparation and the role played by Aligarh Muslim University’s Residential Coaching Academy.
The video attracted criticism from some users on X, particularly over the religious expressions used in her message and the absence of phrases such as “Jai Hind” and “Vande Mataram”. A social media account also claimed to have submitted a complaint to the West Bengal Home Secretary seeking action.
As part of the same police reshuffle, Partha Ghosh has been posted as Additional SP, Kharagpur, while Subhendu Mondal has been appointed Additional DC, Chandannagar Police Commissionerate.
