Senior IPS officer Deven Bharti has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, succeeding Vivek Phansalkar upon his retirement. Bharti, who previously headed the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, assumes leadership at a time when the commissioner’s post has been upgraded to Director General (DG) rank, underscoring its strategic importance.
