IAS officer Abhishek Sehra transferred from Karnataka to Uttar Pradesh on Marriage grounds

Lucknow: In a significant inter-cadre movement within the All India Services, Abhishek Sehra, IAS (2025 batch), has been transferred from the Karnataka cadre to the Uttar Pradesh cadre following his marriage to Priya Meena, IFS (2025 batch).

The transfer has been approved by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions under Sub-Rule (2) of Rule 5 of the IAS (Cadre) Rules, 1954. The provision allows an officer to seek an inter-cadre transfer on marriage grounds, subject to the concurrence of the governments of both the cadres concerned.

Following the cadre change, Sehra is expected to receive a new assignment under the Uttar Pradesh government. His posting will be announced separately by the state administration.

The move is part of the provisions that facilitate cadre changes for All India Services officers after marriage, allowing eligible officers to serve in the same state cadre as their spouse, subject to the applicable rules and approvals.
