Major Police reshuffle in Karnataka: 15 IPS officers transferred

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has carried out a major police department reshuffle, transferring 15 IPS officers to key positions across the state. The latest administrative changes affect senior police leadership, range-level postings and several important district assignments.

One of the notable changes is the transfer of N. Shashikumar, who was serving as the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner. He has been transferred without a fresh posting, while Bhushan Borase has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad.

Senior IPS Officers Get Key Assignments:

The government has also revised several senior-level appointments. ADGP P. Harishekaran has been transferred to the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, while ADGP M. Nanjundaswamy has been posted to the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission.

ADGP Divyajyoti Ray has been transferred to Crime and Technical Services, a crucial wing dealing with crime investigation and technology-driven policing.

Meanwhile, IGP Amit Singh has been posted to the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP). IGP R. Chetan will take charge of the Western Range, Mangaluru, while IGP Nikkam Prakash has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Belagavi.

District Police Leadership Also Rejigged:

The reshuffle includes several changes at the district level. Padmini Sahu has been appointed Superintendent of Police (SP), Chikkaballapur, while Sahil Bagla will serve as SP of Koppal.

H.N. Mithun has been posted as SP, Gadag, and Rohan Jagadish has been appointed SP, Bengaluru South district.

Other significant postings include Shivaprakash Devaraj to the Narcotics Control Force, while R. Srinivasa Gowda has been transferred to CCB-1, Bengaluru.

Dr. Shivakumar has been posted to the Karnataka Lokayukta, and Kushal Choukse has been transferred to the Bengaluru Administration Division.

The latest IPS reshuffle marks a significant realignment of Karnataka’s police leadership, with several senior officers being assigned to strategically important positions in law enforcement, crime control, human rights, narcotics prevention and district policing.
