Major Income Tax Department Reshuffle: Additional and Joint Commissioners transferred

The Income Tax Department has undertaken a large-scale administrative reshuffle involving 100 officers of the rank of Additional Commissioner and Joint Commissioner of Income Tax. Approved by the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, the transfer exercise covers officers posted across assessment units, investigation wings, international taxation divisions, exemption directorates, audit formations, the National Faceless Assessment Centre (NFAC), and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT).

Among the prominent transfers, Abhinav Agnihotri has been posted to the International Taxation setup, while Amit Shukla, Akhilesh Kumar Yadava, Manoj Kumar Tiwari, and several others have been shifted to new assessment ranges. Officers such as Monica Pandey, Rajesh Dhingra, Saurabh Upadhyay, and Sanjeev Kumar have been assigned responsibilities in International Taxation, whereas several officers including Prabhat Ranjan, Prashant Shukla, and Sunil Kumar Pandey have been moved to the Investigation Directorate.

The reshuffle also includes postings to the National Faceless Assessment Centre, Audit formations, Verification Units, Review Units, and the ITAT. The extensive transfer order is aimed at strengthening tax administration, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring optimal deployment of experienced officers across key functions of the department. The move is expected to further enhance transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in India’s direct tax administration system.
