New Delhi, August 3, 2026: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has expanded its renewable energy transmission portfolio by acquiring Krishnagiri REZ Transmission Limited (KRTL), the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) responsible for implementing the Transmission System for Integration of Krishnagiri Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-I.
The acquisition was completed on August 3, 2026, after Power Grid secured the project through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism. The SPV was purchased from PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), the bid process coordinator, for nearly Rs 19.82 crore, subject to adjustments under the Share Purchase Agreement.
The transmission project will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) framework. It includes the construction of two 765/400 kV substations in Andhra Pradesh, besides new 765 kV and 400 kV transmission corridors passing through Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
The infrastructure will enable efficient evacuation of renewable power generated from the Krishnagiri Renewable Energy Zone Phase-I, further strengthening India’s clean energy transmission network.
