Rahul Himalian to hold Additional charge as IRCTC CMD from July 20; Railways Announces Interim Leadership

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has appointed Rahul Himalian, Director (Tourism & Marketing) at the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), to take over the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) with effect from July 20, 2026.

The appointment follows the acceptance of the resignation of the existing CMD, Sanjay Kumar Jain. As per the official order, Rahul Himalian will discharge the duties of CMD for three months or until a regular incumbent is appointed, whichever occurs earlier.

The interim arrangement has been made to ensure seamless leadership at IRCTC, one of India’s leading public sector enterprises responsible for railway catering, online ticketing, tourism packages, hospitality services, and digital passenger solutions.

IRCTC has witnessed significant expansion in recent years, particularly in digital ticketing, rail tourism, and value-added passenger services. The temporary appointment is expected to maintain operational continuity while the government finalises the selection of a full-time Chairman and Managing Director.

The leadership transition is being closely watched by the railway and tourism sectors, as IRCTC continues to strengthen its digital ecosystem and broaden its tourism and hospitality initiatives across the country.
