Tamil Nadu Government announces major IAS reshuffle, assigns new roles to senior officers

In a significant administrative exercise, the Tamil Nadu government has carried out a large-scale reshuffle of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, assigning new responsibilities across key departments, public sector undertakings, and district administrations.

Among the prominent appointments, E. Mrs. Sundaravalli has been posted as Special Secretary, Public and Rehabilitation Department, while R. Lalitha has taken charge as Secretary, Expenditure, Finance Department. Senior IAS officers A.K. Kamal Kishore and M.S. Prasanth have been appointed Joint Secretaries in the Finance Department, strengthening the state’s financial administration.

Several officers have also been entrusted with important departmental roles. R. Alagumeena has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Pooja Kulkarni has been named Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, and V. Amuthavalli will head the Rural Development Department as Commissioner. P. Ponniah has been posted as Commissioner of Collegiate Education, while Dr. T.G. Vinay takes charge as Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments.

The reshuffle includes extensive changes in district administration. P. Akash has been appointed District Collector of Madurai, K.J. Praveen will serve as Collector of Nagapattinam, Dr. R. Vaithinathan has been posted to Theni, V. Saravanan to Dharmapuri, and Pratik Tayal to Tiruchirappalli. Vandana Garg has been assigned Tiruvannamalai district, J.E. Padmaja takes charge in Kallakurichi, N. Priya in Ranipet, L. Madhubalan in Namakkal, Anand Mohan in Tirunelveli, P.S. Leela Alex in Vellore, R. Revathi in Thanjavur, and Dr. M. Veerappan in Chengalpattu.

The government has also made several appointments in state-owned corporations and agencies. Mangat Ram Sharma has been appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, while J. Jayakanthan will head Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Limited. E. Saravanavelraj has been named Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited, and P.N. Sridhar will lead Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation.

Further appointments include S.P. Karthikaa as Chief Executive Officer of Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, R.V. Shajeevana as Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation, Simranjeet Singh Kahlon as Member Secretary of Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust, B. Ganesan as Managing Director of New Tiruppur Area Development Corporation Limited, and Ranjeet Singh as Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited. V.R. Subbulaxmi has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project.

The extensive reshuffle is aimed at enhancing governance efficiency and accelerating implementation of the state’s developmental and administrative priorities.
