Over the past 15 years, a staggering 14,513 individuals, representing 31% of total railway fatalities in the Mumbai region, have remained unidentified after fatal train accidents. These unclaimed bodies, spanning across Central, Harbour, and Western Railway lines, highlight the challenges faced by authorities in identifying victims, especially when bodies are severely mangled or lack identifying belongings.
